Claude Tygier
Claude Tygier was born and educated in France and settled in the United States in the 1960s, where he began his career in international banking. Starting as a foreign exchange position clerk at the New York branch of Marine Midland Bank, he rose through the ranks to become a trader, then Assistant Vice President and Vice President at United California Bank International.
He later joined the New York branch of the Union Bank of Switzerland as Vice President and head trader, and went on to lead trading operations at J. Henry Schroeder Bank & Trust as Senior Vice President. After leaving banking, he founded a consulting firm, which he ran until his retirement.
In the mid-1980s, Claude was selected to prepare a Harvard study of the global foreign exchange market after Cold War concerns arose about Soviet participation in international currency trading. His research concluded that the market's size and decentralized structure made meaningful disruption by any single participant virtually impossible.
He is the author of Fundamentals of Forward Foreign Exchange Trading (J. Henry Schroeder, 1981), Basic Handbook of Foreign Exchange (Euromoney Publications, eight editions, 1981–1988), and The Foreign Exchange Market: A Descriptive Study (Harvard University Press, 1986).

He lives in New Jersey with his wife, Anneliese. They have three children.
